Welcome to the Un-Official, Un-Controlled and Un-Reliable Web site of the COMICS team at the Dipartimento di Informatica e Sistemistica of the University of Napoli Federico II. COMICS stands for COMputers for Interaction and CommunicationS. The group is part of GRID, the Gruppo di Ricerca sull'Informatica Distribuita. The COMICS team is committed to work in the research areas of network architectures, protocols and applications, with a particular emphasis on the problems related to the processing and transmission of multimedia data. Our activities develop usually within cooperative research projects, funded by the European Commission, the Italian Ministry for Research (MURST), the Italian National Research Council (CNR), the Government of the Campania Region and other funding agencies. We also have several partnerships ongoing with private companies and organizations in the areas of vocational and professional training, technological transfer, and R&D projects.
